Gzira United, Floriana cross swords in top-oft-the-table clash

Leaders Gzira United take on Floriana in a top-of-the-table clash in the BOV Premier League on Friday in one of the four matches in programme at the National Stadium and the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Birkirkara face Valletta in another interesting clash, Balzan take on Lija Athletic in the derby while Hibernians face Naxxar Lions.

Floriana vs Gzira United, kick-off 18:00 at National Stadium
After winning their first five matches, defeating Lija, Birkirkara, Tarxien, Hibs and St. Andrews in the process, the Maroons will be aiming at a sixth win in a row as they take on Floriana who are still unbeaten but dropped four points in draws with Birkirkara and Hibernians.

Clyde Borg is ruled out for Floriana as he serves a one-match ban while Steve Pisani is still suspended.

Birkirkara vs Valletta, kick-off 20:00 at National Stadium
Birkirkara and Valletta will be all out to claim maximum points from this clash after both disappointed in recent outings. The Stripes won just two out of the first five matches and are coming from a difficult 3-2 win over Naxxar. Valletta, on the other hand, lost 1-2 to Balzan – their first defeat after three narrow wins and a draw.

Balzan vs Lija Athletic, kick-off 18:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
After collecting just two points from the previous three matches, Balzan returned to winning ways as they defeated Valletta 2-1. Lija, on the other hand, collected their first point in a draw with Naxxar following four defeats in the first four outings.

Balzan could not count on the suspended Elkin Serrano but Bojan Kaljevic and Paul Fenech will be back after serving a one-match ban.

Hibernians vs Naxxar Lions, kick-off 20:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Following a 3-0 win over Mosta, Hibernians target another three points to keep the pressure on Gzira and Floriana. Naxxar, on the other hand, are still chasing their first win, earning their only points in two draws.

Marcelo Dias and Rui Fernando da Gracia Gomes will be back for Hibernians after serving a one-match ban. Naxxar should welcome back Elhadji Oussenyou Ndaye.
