Fifth win in a row for Victoria Hotspurs

Victoria Hotspurs maintained a perfect record in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated Kercem Ajax 3-1 at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

Elton da Silva put the Hotspurs ahead after just one minute and doubled the score on the 36th. Ognjen Rolovic pulled one back for Kercem five minutes in the second half but Henrique Maciel made it 3-1 for the leaders.

Xewkija Tigers kept the pace with the Hotspurs with a 5-0 win over Oratory Youths in another match on Sunday. Thiago Melo Dos Santos put them ahead on the 5th minute, Joseph George Vella converted a penalty on the 26th to double the score and five minutes later, Claudio Antunes made it 3-0 with Thiago Melo Dos Santos adding another eight minutes from the end of the first half. Rodney Buttigieg scored a fifth goal ten minutes in the second half.

Nadur Youngsters also registered a fourth win as they beat Gharb Rangers 3-2 on Friday. Goals by Darko Krstic on the 8th minute, Shaun Attard on the 22nd and Brandon Said on the 37th gave Nadur a three-goal lead before Dylan Bellotti on the 77th and John Paul Grima on the 82nd reduced the gap for the Rangers.

In another match, SK Victoria Wanderers held Ghajnsielem in a goalless draw.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, leaders Munxar Falcons registered an impressive 5-1 win over Xaghra United at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday.

Manuel Galea converted a penalty on the 21st minute to put Xaghra ahead but six minutes later, Michael Matthias Uzor levelled matters. Frank Attard made it 2-1 on the 38th and two minutes in the second half, Michael Matthias Uzor added another with Oliver Curmi on the 64th and an Uzor penalty four minutes from time increased the lead further.

In another match, Sannat Lions defeated St. Lawrence Spurs 3-1. Oliver Farrugia put the Lions ahead on the 16th and although a Charlon Farrugia penalty restored equilibrium on the 65th, goals by Oliver Farrugia on the 81st and Franci Kosova deep into stoppage time handed Sannat the three points.
