Valletta target win to join Gzira on top

Valletta will be all out to claim the three points on Saturday as they take on Tarxien Rainbows in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium. Three points which would put them on level points with leaders Gzira United after the latter suffered their first defeat, losing to Balzan on Friday.

The Citizens registered back-to-back wins over Birkirkara and Lija Athletic in their last two matches and won five out of the seven matches played so far. The Rainbows, on the other hand, are coming from three positive results after a draw with Senglea and two 2-1 wins over Sliema and Naxxar. They are currently fourth from bottom on 7 points.

Meanwhile in the first match, Senglea Athletic face Hamrun Spartans.

After collecting seven points from the first four matches, Senglea earned just one point in a draw with Tarxien, suffering two narrow defeats to St. Andrews and Hibernians. The Spartans, on the other hand, won just one game out of the last four matches following a win over Mosta, a draw with Balzan and defeats to Floriana and Gzira.
