Women’s Under-17 national team travels to Slovenia to take part in UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers

The Malta Women’s Under-17 team is currently in Slovenia to take part in Group 11 of the UEFA Women’s Under-17 European Championship qualifiers.

Slovenia, who will be hosting the mini-tournament from October 23-29, Finland and Italy are Malta’s opponents.

Led by coach Frank Schembri, the Maltese girls play Italy in their opening game on Monday. On Thursday, they meet Finland before concluding their group schedule against Slovenia on October 29.

The players selected by Schembri are:

Midfielders: Michella Bonello Ghio (Raiders), Amy Busuttil (Tarxien Rainbows), Maia Debono, Angelique Schembri (both Mġarr United), Maria Farrugia (Gozo), Celeste Grech (Mosta), Samantha Zarb (Birkirkara)
Forwards: Shakira Bugeja, Maria Michela Cassar, Demi Magrin (all Kirkop United), Michela Felice (Birkirkara)
