Valletta hit six past Rainbows to join Gzira on top

Valletta registered a most comfortable 6-0 win over Tarxien Rainbows at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday. A win which put the Citizens on level points with leaders Gzira United.

Juan Cruz Gill put Valletta ahead after just ten minutes, hitting home off the rebound after goalkeeper Christian Cassar blocked a Kyrian Nwoko effort. Kyrian Nwoko doubled the score on the 34th minute as he hit home from close range when served by Matteo Piciollo. Just before half-time, Santiago Malano made it 3-0 following a corner by Denni.

Six minutes in the second half, Steve Borg served Matteo Piciollo who headed home from close range to score the fourth for Valletta. Substitute Russell Fenech increased the lead further ten minutes from time following an assist by Kyrian Nwoko. However it was not over yet as three minutes later, Nwoko scored the sixth goal for Valletta after taking advantage of an erratic clearance, avoiding a defender and hitting low past Cassar.
