Wanderers join Hibs, Floriana in fourth place

Sliema Wanderers continued where they had left last week when they had defeated Birkirkara as they registered a narrow win over Hibernians to join the Paolites and Floriana in fourth place, five points behind joint-leaders Valletta and Gzira United.

For the Paolites, this was their second defeat in five matches which cost them the opportunity to move to just two points behind the leaders.

The Wanderers scored the all-important goal one minute in added time, before the end of the first half, thanks to Jefferson de Assis who concluded a fine solo effort with a powerful shot which beat goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.
