Finland prove too strong for women’s Under-17 side

Finland proved too strong for the Malta women’s Under-17 side as they registered a 8-1 win in a match from Group 11 of the UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship qualifiers at the NNC Brdo in Kranj, Slovenia.

Annika Huhta opened the score on the 15th minute and three minutes later, Katariina Kosola doubled the score. Aino Vuorinen made it 3-0 on the 37th. Eiht minutes in the second half, an own goal increased the lead for Finland who added another on the 51st before Maria Farrugia scored a consolation goal for Malta. Substitutes Marie Mäkinen and Dana Leskinen scored on the 72nd and 74th with Kaisa Juvonen scoring an eighth goal in added time.

On Sunday, Malta takes on hosts Slovenia who drew 0-0 with Finland in the first game and 1-1 with Italy on Thursday.
