Valletta target sole leadership

Valletta will be all out to claim the three points on Saturday as they take on St. Andrews in one of the four BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium and the Hibernians Stadium.

Hibernians hope to return to winning ways as they take on Lija Athletic, Naxxar Lions face Floriana while Birkirkara meet Tarxien Rainbows.

Lija Athletic vs Hibernians, kick-off 15:00 at Hibernians Stadium
Following a 0-1 defeat to Sliema last week, Hibernians will be hoping to bounce back with a win on Saturday as they take on Lija Athletic who are still chasing their first win, having collected just one point from the first eight matches. Last week’s defeat saw the Paolites lose ground with the teams on top and now share fourth place with Floriana and Sliema. Lija, on the other hand, are coming from a 0-2 defeat to Birkirkara and remain anchored at the bottom of the table.

For Lija, Luke Bonnici and Daniel Scerri are both suspended.

Naxxar Lions vs Floriana, kick-off 17:00 at Hibernians Stadium
After registering their first Premier League win – a 3-1 win over St. Andrews, Naxxar Lions will be aiming for another positive result as they take on Floriana. A win which enabled them to join the Saints on the six-point mark. However Floriana will be determined to take home the three points after being held in three consecutive draws by Balzan, Gzira and Mosta, which however leaves them as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League.

Floriana could not count on the suspended Arthur Henrique while Naxxar welcome back Oussenyou Elhadji Ndaye after serving a one-match ban.

Valletta vs St. Andrews, kick-off 15:00 at Centenary Stadium
A win is a must for Valletta in the clash with St. Andrews to take sole leadership following Gzira’s 1-1 draw with Senglea. The Citizens are coming from three successive wins over Birkirkara, Lija and Tarxien. The Saints, on the other hand, lost five out of the last six matches and are yet to name a new coach following the resignation of Marko Glumac.

Birkirkara vs Tarxien Rainbows, kick-off 17:15 at Centenary Stadium
After beating Lija 2-0 in their last outing, Birkirkara will be aiming for another three points as they take on Tarxien who are coming from a heavy 0-6 defeat to Valletta. The Rainbows are currently fourth from bottom, three points behind the Stripes.

Tarxien’s Andre Scicluna is suspended as he completes his two-match ban.
