Silvio Vella names Under-21 squad for qualifier against Turkey

Malta Under-21 coach Silvio Vella has named an eighteen-man squad for the UEFA U-21 Championship Group Six qualifier against Turkey in programme on Friday at the Centenary Stadium.

All the players in Vella’s selection are registered with BOV Premier League clubs except Myles Beerman, who is on the books for Scottish Premiership club Glasgow Rangers.

Beerman and Valletta striker Kyrian Nwoko have also been included in the provisional Malta squad for the friendly match against Estonia at the National Stadium on November 12 but the duo will link up with the senior team after the U-21 qualifier against Turkey.

The bulk of the players on Vella’s list will report for international duty on Sunday while those who play for Hibernians and Valletta, who will meet in a BOV Premier League match on Sunday, will join the squad the following day.

The match against Turkey will be the first home outing for the Malta Under-21 side in the 2019 UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign as the opening four matches, which have all resulted in defeats, were away.
