BOV Division 1: Qormi return to winning ways

After dropping their first points in a draw with Zebbug Rangers, leaders Qormi returned to winning ways as they defeated Pembroke Athleta 3-1 in a match from the BOV First Division at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.

Jose Lucas Caetano da Silva put Qormi ahead on the 11th minute. Njongo Priso levelled matters two minutes in the second half but a penalty by Jose Lucas Caetano da Silva restored the lead for Qormi on the 59th. Yannick Yankam sealed the issue with a third goal on the 76th minute.

Meanwhile in another match, Vittoriosa registered a fine 4-0 win over Zebbug Rangers. Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe put the Stars ahead on the half-hour and five minutes later, Obinna Obiefule converted a penalty to double the score. Jamie Pace made it 3-0 nine minutes in the second half and two minutes later, Ogunnupe added another.

Qormi lead the way with 22 points, followed by Vittoriosa on 14, Mqabba 13, Pietà, Zejtun and Zebbug 12, Qrendi, San Gwann and Sirens 10, Zabbar, Marsa and Melita 6, Rabat 0 and Pembroke -1. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
