BOV Division 1: Rabat Ajax register first win

Rabat Ajax registered their first win in the BOV First Division as they beat Qrendi 3-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday.

Joseph Caruana put the Magpies ahead on the 28th minute and just before half-time, Ryan Micallef doubled the score. Substitute Adam Smeir sealed the issue with a third goal three minutes from time.

At the Centenary Stadium, Pietà Hotspurs claimed the three points thanks to an emphatic 6-0 win over San Gwann. Clive Gauci opened the score on the 14th minute and Christian Degabriele made it 2-0 on the 35th. Clive Gauci added another two minutes later and Juan Manuel Ruiz Perez scored a fourth goal just before half-time. Neil Pace Cocks increased the lead on the 70th and five minutes later, Gabriel Mensah made it 6-0.

Sirens registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Centenary Stadium. Aud-Gustin James Obaje put Sirens ahead on the 20th and Giovanni Galea doubled the score on the 36th with Darko Medic scoring a third goal just before half-time. Giovanni Galea scored a fourth goal for the St. Paul’s Bay side on the 72nd with Daniel Agius adding another three minutes later. Christian Stewart scored a consolation goal for Zabbar on the 90th.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Zejtun Corinthians came from behind to beat Melita 2-1. Daniel Cutajar put Melita ahead on the 69th but one minute from time, Yessous Camilleri equalised and Clayton Giordemaina notched the winner three minutes in added time.

Qormi lead the way with 22 points, followed by Pietà and Zejtun on 15, Vittoriosa 14, Mqabba and Sirens 13, Zebbug 12, Qrendi and San Gwann 10, Marsa, Zabbar and Melita 6, Rabat 3 and Pembroke -1. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
