Second-half goals put Stripes back on track

Birkirkara scored two second-half goals as they returned to winning ways, defeating St. Andrews 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

This was only the third win for the Stripes in seven matches. On the other hand, for the Saints, this was the fifth defeat in six matches after earning a point in a draw with Lija last week. They remain joint-third from bottom on seven points together with Tarxien.

Following a goalless first half, Birkirkara managed to take the lead on the 61st minute when off a Carlos Alberto corner, Martin Klein headed home past goalkeeper Calleja Cremona.

The Stripes doubled the score ten minutes from time when off an assist by Carlos Alberto, Luke Montebello placed the ball at the back of the net.
