BOV Division 1: Mqabba join Zejtun in third place

Mqabba joined Zejtun Corinthians in third place in the BOV First Division thanks to a fine 4-1 win over Sirens at the Centenary Stadium in one of the four BOV First Division in programme on Sunday.

Paul Chimezie gave Mqabba a two-goal lead, scoring on the 38th and 53rd and although Darko Medic reduced the gap on the 55th, Chimezie added another on the 61st and Lyden Micallef sealed the issue with a fourth goal five minutes later.

On the other hand, in another match at the Centenary Stadium, Zejtun Corinthians were held in a 1-1 draw by Zabbar St. Patrick. Clayton Camilleri put Zabbar ahead on the 73rd minute but Saturday Nanapere equalised eight minutes from time.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Pembroke Athleta held Vittoriosa Stars in a 1-1 draw. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza put Pembroke ahead just before half-time but Obinna Obiefule equalised six minutes in the second half.

Meanwhile Zebbug Rangers and Qrendi shared the spoils in a goalless draw in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Qormi lead the way with 25 points, followed by Pietà on 18, Mqabba and Zejtun 16, Vittoriosa 15, Sirens, San Gwann and Zebbug 13, Qrendi 11, Zabbar 7, Marsa and Melita 6, Rabat 3 and Pembroke 0. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
