BOV Division 1: Qormi, Zejtun share spoils in 1-1 draw

Qormi extended their positive run in the BOV First Division but saw their lead go down to five points after being held in a 1-1 draw by Zejtun Corinthians at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday.

A Michael Camilleri penalty just before half-time but another penalty, this time converted by Filippo Andrea Scozzese, restored equilibrium seven minutes from time.

A brace by Lyden Micallef gave Mqabba a 2-1 win over Zabbar St. Patrick in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Micallef put Mqabba ahead on the 29th and although Shalon Diacono equalised on the 55th, Micallef notched the winner five minutes from time.

At the Centenary Stadium, Melita collected three precious points in a 2-1 win over Vittoriosa Stars. Mark Russo gave Melita an early lead, putting them ahead on the 4th minute but an Obinna Obiefule penalty levelled matters three minutes from the end of the first half. However Luke Micallef restored the lead for the Amateurs on the 58th minute.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Marsa and Rabat Ajax shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Mark Camilleri put Marsa ahead three minutes in the second half but Aidan Azzopardi levelled matters on the 68th.

Qormi lead the way with 26 points, followed by Pietà on 21, Mqabba 19, Zejtun 17, Vittoriosa 15, San Gwann and Zebbug 14, Sirens 13, Qrendi 12, Melita 9, Marsa and Zabbar 7, Rabat 4 and Pembroke 1. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
