BOV Division 2: Swieqi held by Marsaxlokk

After losing to Gudja last week, leaders Swieqi United dropped another two points as they were held in a goalless draw by Marsaxlokk in one of the four BOV Second Division matches in programme on Saturday.

The goalless draw at the Luxol Stadium leaves Swieqi just two points ahead of Gudja, Kalkara, Santa Lucia and Siggiewi, meaning that one or two teams could move top as Gudja United will be facing Fgura United and Siggiewi take on Santa Lucia in Sunday’s matches.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, St. George’s and Mgarr United earned a point each in a 1-1 draw. Daniel Vassallo purt Mgarr ahead on the 35th but Glenn Brincat equalised one minute from the end of the first half.

At the Sirens Stadium, Luqa St. Andrew’s came back from two goals down to hold Birzebbuga St. Peter’s in a 2-2 draw. Didier Sohna put Birzebbuga ahead after just one minute and Ronnie Celeste doubled the score on the 12th but Radnor Farrugia reduced the gap on the 38th and Greg Marney equalised six minutes in the second half.

On the other hand, goals by Firas Aboulezz on the 46th and Bledi Alla on the 49th gave Attard a 2-0 win over Gharghur in another match at the Sirens Stadium.

Swieqi lead the way with 24 points, followed by Gudja, Kalkara, Santa Lucia and Siggiewi on 22, Marsaxlokk 18, Fgura, Birzebbuga and Mgarr 17, Luqa 11, Attard 9, St. George’s 5 and Gharghur 1. St. George’s had two points deducted.
