Mdina Knights defeated Marsaskala 6-2 at the Charles Abela Stadium in one of the four BOV Third Division matches in programme on Sunday.
Marsaskala forged ahead one minute from the end of the first half thanks to Matthew Gauci but one minute in the second half, Matthew Grech equalised and Stefi Cale made it 2-1. Marsaskala levelled matters thanks to Nestor Luis Silva Canas on the 51st but Matthew Grech made it 3-2 on the hour. Stefi Cale and Julien Iwueke both converted penalties on the 64th and the 88th respectively with Dylan Mintoff added another goal on the 90th for a 6-2 win.
In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Ghaxaq came back from two goals down to hold Msida St. Joseph in a 2-2 draw. Mohammed Ibrahim Tarek converted a penalty on the 37th minute to put Msida ahead and Christian Farrugia doubled the score on the 73rd. However Dean Agius reduced the gap on the 77th and seven minutes from time, Agius equalised for Ghaxaq.
At the Sirens Stadium, Zurrieq defeated Mtarfa 2-1. Gilbert Camilleri put Zurrieq ahead on the 8th minute and Ryan Schembri doubled the score on the 87th minute. Miguel Xerri scored a consolation goal for Mtarfa two minutes in added time.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Dingli Swallows and Ta’ Xbiex shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Charlot Borg put Ta’ Xbiex ahead on the 38th minute but Kayne Said equalised on the 61st.
Mellieha lead the way with 25 points, followed by Sta. Venera on 23, Xghajra 21, Kirkop 17, Msida 16 Mdina 15, Zurrieq 14, Dingli 12, Ghaxaq 11, Marsaskala 7, Mtarfa 6 and Ta’ Xbiex 4.
