Fifteen Premier League players suspended

Fifteen Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches and are therefore ruled out of the first programme of matches for 2018.

The players are Cain Attard and Nikola Vukanac (Birkirkara), Enzo Ruiz (Floriana), Roderick Briffa and Amadou Samb (Gzira), Clayton Failla and Johann Bezzina (Hibs), Daniel Scerri (Lija), Thomas Veronese (Mosta), Scott James Fenwick and Oussenyou Elhadji Ndoye (Naxxar), Randall Vella (Senglea), Kemmu Degran Jackson and Innocent Tano Azian (St. Andrews) and Luke Grech (Tarxien).

Attard, Vukanac, Briffa and Samb are ruled out of Birkirkara vs Gzira, Hibs could not count on Failla and Bezzina for the clash with Hamrun, Ruiz and Grech will miss the game between Tarxien and Floriana, Scerri and Veronese are ruled out of Lija vs Mosta, Fenwick and Ndoye skip the clash against Sliema, Vella the clash with Valletta while Jackson and Azian will be missing the clash with leaders Balzan.

St. Andrews team manager and Tarxien assistant coach Brian Chetcuti were also banned for one match.

In Division 1, Daniel Cutajar (Melita) was banned for three matches while Ryan Mercieca (Marsa), Chris Vella (Rabat), Andrea Camilleri and Mikas Kura (San Gwann), Francisco Arriagada Mella and Karl Magri (Vittoriosa), Clayton Camilleri and Shawn Cesare (Zabbar), Clifford Gauci and Francesco Gusman (Zebbug) were all handed a one-match ban.

Justin Zammit (Fgura), Gabriel Buttigieg (Luqa), Gaynor D’Amato and Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel (Santa Lucia) and Mirco Vella (Swieqi) were banned for one match in Division 2 while Matthew Pace (Dingli), Christian Grixti (Ghaxaq) and Luca Bugeja (Sta. Venera) were suspended for one match in Division 3.
