Leaders Swieqi United and third-placed Siggiewi shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the big match on Sunday from the BOV Second Division at the Sirens Stadium. A draw which puts Siggiewi in joint-second place with Santa Lucia.
Andre Farrugia put Siggiewi ahead just before half-time and deep into stoppage time, Roderick Taliana notched a dramatic equaliser for the leaders.
Gudja United move fourth, on level points with Fgura, thanks to a 3-1 win over Luqa St. Andrew’s. Ronnie Celeste put Gudja ahead on the 15th minute and one minute from the end of the first half, Elton Bugeja doubled the score. Nicholas Zammit increased the lead on the 73rd but Wayne Cuschieri scored a consolation goal for Luqa seven minutes from time.
St. George’s collected three precious points thanks to a narrow win over Attard at the Sirens Stadium. Bobby Vaughan scored the all-important goal for the Saints on the 18th minute.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Kalkara registered a 2-1 win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s thanks to a brace by Timothy Thomas on the 71st (a penalty) and 73rd after that Jean Claud Cesare had put Birzebbuga ahead.
Swieqi lead the way with 33 points, followed by Santa Lucia and Siggiewi on 31, Fgura and Gudja 30, Kalkara 29, Marsaxlokk 28, Birzebbuga 26, Mgarr 19, Luqa 14, Attard 10, St. George’s 9 and Gharghur 3.
