Spartans return to winning ways

Hamrun Spartans returned to winning ways as a brace by Alex Nilsson handed them a 2-0 win over Mosta at the National Stadium on Sunday.

A win which puts the Spartans in a more comfortable mid-table position after losing the previous three matches. For Mosta, this defeat leaves them eight points clear of the danger zone.

Lydon Micallef was unlucky to hit the foot of the upright with a fine diagonal shot from the left on the 35th minute. Mosta, on the other hand, had three consecutive shots by Giordano Trovade, Leozinho and Massimo Sammartino which were blocked by Sultana.

However on the 65th minute, the Spartans managed to break the deadlock thanks to Alex Nilsson who concluded a good run, when served by Arthur Faria Machado, by slotting the ball past Andreas Vella.

Five minutes from time, Alex Nilsson doubled the score for Hamrun when he entered the penalty area before hitting past the Mosta custodian.
