BOV Division 1: Zabbar St. Patrick claim precious points

Zabbar St. Patrick claimed three precious points in the battle against relegation as they defeated Qrendi 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium in one of three matches from the BOV First Division on Monday.

Christian Stewart put Zabbar ahead on the 15th minute but Dasser Sammut equalised on the 27th and a Dhonatan Santos da Hora penalty on the 61st minute gave Qrendi a 2-1 lead. However three minutes later, Kurt Borg restored equilibrium and the same player made it 3-2 for St. Patrick on the 76th minute.

Melita scored twice in added time to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Rabat Ajax at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. An own goal by Emilio Cornago San Pedro on the 32nd minute put Rabat ahead and they doubled the score through Wayne Borg on the 62nd. However in added time, Melita scored twice thanks to a Toraino Singleton penalty and a Luke Micallef penalty.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a goal by Sergio Hili on the 18th minute handed San Gwann a narrow win over Sirens.

Qormi lead the way with 40 points, followed by Pieta and Mqabba on 34, Zebbug 31, Zejtun 29, Vittoriosa and San Gwann 27, Qrendi 23, Sirens 21, Pembroke 20, Zabbar 19, Melita 13, Marsa 12 and Rabat 5. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
