Second edition of Integrity Tour commences next week

The second edition of the Malta Football Association Integrity Tour commences on Monday, 5th March, 2018.

The information sessions are co-ordinated by Franz Tabone, the Malta FA Integrity Officer who will be visiting all the 53 clubs affiliated with the Malta Football Association over the coming months. The first MFA Integrity Tour was held in 2014.

“These educational and awareness programmes are necessary to assist and equip footballers and officials with knowledge of how to stay clear of match-fixing perils surrounding football,” Tabone said.

“It is in the clubs’ interest to attend these sessions and learn what their duties and responsibilities are in this scenario.”

First-team, Under-19 and Under-17 players as well as club officials are requested to take part in these obligatory sessions.

The short presentations will focus on the Criminal Law and the MFA regulations on corruption and illegal betting.

Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the Malta FA General Secretary, said: “We believe that educating the stakeholders is of paramount importance in this area and it is our collective duty to contribute actively in this process.”

Premier League clubs Hibernians and Birkirkara are due to host the first two integrity information sessions on Monday.
