Santa Lucia bounced back from the defeat to Fgura United in their last outing as they registered a narrow win over another challenger for promotion – Gudja United in one of the two BOV Second Division matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Sebastian Perdomo scored the all-important goal for Santa Lucia just past the half hour.

In another match, Kalkara also returned to winning ways as they beat St. George’s 3-1. Two goals just before half-time by Beppe Antignolo and Timmy Thomas put Kalkara two goals ahead and although Wisdom Ifeanyi pulled one back for the Saints, a Timmy Thomas penalty two minutes from time sealed the issue.

Swieqi lead the way with 36 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 34, Gudja and Fgura 33, Kalkara 32, Siggiewi 31, Marsaxlokk 29, Birzebbuga 26, Mgarr 22, Luqa 15, Attard 10, St. George’s 9 and Gharghur 3.
