BOV Division 2: Dramatic win for Marsaxlokk — Attard shock Fgura

Marsaxlokk claimed the three points in a dramatic 3-2 win over bottom-placed Gharghur at the Luxol Stadium in one of four BOV Second Division matches in programme on Sunday.

Eduardo de Lima Nicolau put Gharghur ahead on the 49th minute but Trevor Cilia equalised on the 65th. A minute later, Bjorn Camilleri restored the lead for Gharghur but Antoine Barbara levelled matters on the 71st and Cleavon Frendo notched the winner on the 90th.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, a goal by Kurt Zahra on the 16th minute gave Attard a shock win over Fgura United.

At the Centenary Stadium, leaders Swieqi United defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 4-1. A penalty by Ion Alin Margarit put Swieqi ahead on the 39th minute and six minutes later, Sean Gatt Baldacchino doubled the score. Nicholas Schembri made it 3-0 two minutes in the second half and Kyle Muscat added another on the 77th before Jordie Delia scored a consolation goal for Birzebbuga eight minutes from time.

In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Mgarr United defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-0 thanks to a brace by Lazar Doric on the 39th and 67th and a late goal by Matthew Muscat.

Swieqi lead the way with 39 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 34, Gudja and Fgura 33, Marsaxlokk and Kalkara 32, Siggiewi 31, Birzebbuga 26, Mgarr 25, Luqa 15, Attard 13, St. George’s 9 and Gharghur 3.
