BOV Division 1: San Gwann make it seven wins in a row

Four days after defeating Mqabba, San Gwann extended their winning streak in the BOV First Division to seven matches as they defeated second-placed Pietà Hotspurs 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts San Gwann in fifth place, four points behind Pietà and Mqabba and two behind Zejtun.

The Hotspurs took the lead thanks to Lawrence Chiedozie on the 22nd minute but Godwin Blessing Henshaw equalised on the 38th and two minutes in the second half, Mario Andres Arieta Suarez made it 2-1 for San Gwann. Kyle Gatt sealed the issue with another goal on the 73rd.

Mqabba returned to winning ways as they defeated Marsa 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Gaetano Gesualdi put Mqabba ahead on the 36th minute and although Luke Mijic equalised on the hour, Paul Chimezie notched the winner two minutes from time.

Two own goals on the 82nd and 93rd gave Vittoriosa Stars a 2-0 win over Zebbug Rangers at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Qrendi, on the other hand, beat Rabat Ajax 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium thanks to goals by Emerson Amaira on the 50th and Julio Cesar Souza Martins on the 89th.

Qormi lead the way with 47 points, followed by Pietà and Mqabba on 40, Zejtun on 38, San Gwann 36, Zebbug 35, Vittoriosa 33, Qrendi 26, Pembroke and Sirens 21, Zabbar 19, Marsa 18, Melita 14 and Rabat 5.
