Five Premier League players suspended

Five Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Alfred Effiong (Balzan), Lucas Maia Varone (Birkirkara), Ivan Maric (Mosta), Gonzalo Julian Leyton (Senglea) and Ricardo Calixto Correa Duarte (Sliema) are therefore ruled out of the next games from the BOV Premier League in programme on April 6/7/8.

Effiong will skip the clash with Tarxien, Lucas Maia the game against Hibernians, Maric and Leyton are ruled out of Senglea vs Mosta and Correa the Old Firm derby with Floriana.

In Division 1, Melvin Busuttil (Marsa), Fabien Lufi (Melita), Gianfranco Micallef (Mqabba), Mark Farrugia and Mark Barbara (Qrendi), Wayne Borg (Rabat), Christian Caruana and Luke Galea (Sirens) were all banned for one match.

Luca Martinelli (Attard), Joshua Barbara (Fgura), Leon Zammit (Mgarr), Mauro Brincat (Siggiewi), Loumar Cutajar, Mattia Mentosa and Marlon Farrugia (St. George’s) were handed a one-match ban in Division 2 while Vince Camilleri (Ghaxaq), Nicholas Joe Cauchi (Msida), Dino Bonnici and Josef Felice (Zurrieq) were suspended for one match in Division 3.
