Under-21 side beaten by Switzerland U-20 in friendly match

The Malta Under-21 side lost 1-3 to Switzerland Under-20 in a friendly match at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

The visitors took the lead on the 12th minute thanks to Michel Aebischer and on the hour, Vasilije Janjicic doubled the score. Kyrian Nwoko pulled one back on the 67th thanks to a goal by Kyrian Nwoko, served by captain Jake Grech. However Switzerland regained a two-goal lead on the 81st minute thanks to an own goal as Dunstan Vella deflected a Ruben Vargas effort.

Malta will now fly to Antalya where the team led by Silvio Vella faces Turkey in the UEFA Under-21 Championship Qualifying Group 6 match on Tuesday at the Bahçeşehir Okulları Arena in Alanya.
