BOV Division 2: Santa Lucia held by Luqa

Santa Lucia dropped two important points in the battle for promotion as they were held in a 3-3 draw by Luqa St. Andrew’s in one of the four BOV Second Division matches in programme on Saturday.

At the Luxol Stadium, a brace by Sebastian Perdomo – a goal on the 9th and a penalty on the 20th gave them a two-goal lead but Luqa hit back with a Greg Marney penalty on the 34th and a goal by Jason Good on the 44th. Steve Meilak restored the lead for Santa Lucia just before half-time but Lydon Sciberras made it 3-3 on the 64th.

Gudja United, on the other hand, joined Swieqi United on top thanks to a 3-0 win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s at the Luxol Stadium, courtesy of Ronnie Celeste on the 17th and 73rd and Nicholas Zammit on the 46th.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, a penalty by Lazar Doric on the 13th and Jamie Lee Micallef on the 89th handed Mgarr United a 2-0 win over Siggiewi.

On the other hand, bottom-placed Gharghur earned a point in a 3-3 draw with Kalkara at the Sirens Stadium. Cain Saiba put Gharghur ahead on the 17th and Nikola Tasic converted a penatly to double the score on the 27th. Goals by Timmy Thomas on the 28th and Leeroy Bonnet on the 35th restored equilibrium but Nikola Tasic made it 3-2 on the 39th. However Cristian Suarez levelled matters on the 90th.

Gudja and Swieqi lead the way with 42 points, followed by Fgura and Santa Lucia on 39, Siggiewi 34, Kalkara and Marsaxlokk 33, Mgarr 31, Birzebbuga 29, Luqa 22, Attard 13, St. George’s 12 and Gharghur 4.
