Valletta Futsal were crowned champions of the Gatorade Futsal League Elite Round after defeating Luxol on penalties in match two at the Corradino Pavilion on Friday.

The Citizens had won the first match 5-1 the previous week thanks to a hat-trick by Gia Nikashvili, a goal by Camilo Andres Gomez Vanegaz and another by Dylan Musu with Andy Mangion scoring Luxol’s goal and therefore needed a second win on Friday to secure the title. On the other hand, Luxol needed a win to force a third game.

On Friday, the game was delayed by over an hour and a half due to rain water dripping from the roof. Then following a goalless first half, Jovica Miljic put Valletta ahead, Zvezdan Vukovic levelled matters, Dylan Musu restored the lead with Emil Andrei Raducu restoring equilibrium. Valletta then emerged as winners 3-2 on penalties.
