Victoria Hotspurs crowned champions after going 15 points clear

Victoria Hotspurs were crowned champions in Gozo as they registered a 4-1 win over Ghajnsielem in a match from the BOV Gozo Football League First Division. A win which puts them fifteen points clear with four games to go.

Andrea Debrincat opened the score on the 15th and Elton da Silva hit twice on the 44th and 67th and although Marco Antonio Morgon Filho reduced the gap on the 72nd, Elton da Silva converted a penalty on the 83rd to make it 4-1.

Gharb Rangers joined Ghajnsielem in fifth place as they defeated Xewkija Tigers 5-3. Daniel Bogdanovic put the Tigers ahead on the 6th minute but Marcelo Barbosa equalised on the 12th and converted a penalty to put Gharb 2-1 ahead. Ardit Shkjan made it 3-1 on the 26th and Marcelo Barbosa 4-1 on the 58th. Claudio Antunes converted a peanty on the 63rd and added another on the 65th to reduce the gap but Marcelo Barbosa scored a fifth goal on the 76th.

Oratory Youths earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Kercem Ajax. Gibson Botshelo Mfulwane put the Youths ahead on the 19th minute but Mario Mifsud equalised on the 65th.

SK Victoria Wanderers collected three precious points in a 5-2 win over Nadur Youngsters. Shaun Attard (35′) and Brandon Said (56′) put Nadur two goals ahead but Ige Abdullahi Adeshina scored twice in one minute on the 60th and 61st to level matters. Ian Xuereb made it 3-2 on the 74th with Ryan Grech and Ian Xuereb increasing the lead further in stoppage time.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, St. Lawrence Spurs registered a 9-0 win over Qala Saints. Radovan Djuric (3′), Kenny Hili (26′) and Charlon Tabone (31′) gave the Spurs a three-goal lead. In the second half, they scored six without reply thanks to Luke Attard (57′ and 79′), Kenny Hili (71′ and 75′), Radovan Djuric (73′) and Carlton Mifsud (78′).

On the other hand, Sannat Lions defeated Zebbug Rovers 4-1.  Antoine Camilleri (28′) and Mohammed Senussi Telessi (31′) gave Sannat a two-goal lead in the first half. Fabian Xuereb made it 3-0 on the 56th and although Chris Borg pulled one back on the 74th, Mohammed Senussi Telessi added another on the 75th.
