BOV Division 2: Gudja take sole leadership

Gudja United are the new leaders in the BOV Second Division following a comfortable 5-0 win over St. George’s at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday. A win which puts them two points ahead of Swieqi and three ahead of Santa Lucia with two games to go.

Nicholas Zammit put Gudja ahead on the 14th minute and Ronnie Celeste scored twice on the 36th and 53rd to increase the lead to 3-0. Zammit and Celeste added another two goals on the 70th and 88th.

In another match, Fgura United suffered a major setback in the race for promotion as they lost 1-2 to Kalkara. Abeeb Abiodun Williams put Fgura ahead on the 5th minute but Beppe Antignolo equalised on the 18th and Timothy Thomas notched the winner six minutes in the second half.
Gudja lead the way with 45 points, followed by Swieqi on 43, Santa Lucia 42, Fgura 40, Siggiewi 37, Marsaxlokk 36, Kalkara 36, Mgarr 34, Birzebbuga 32, Luqa 22, Attard 13, St. George’s 12, Gharghur 4.
