Sta. Venera Lightnings registered an emphatic 4-0 win over Mellieha in the top-of-the-table clash from the BOV Third Division but both sides secured promotion as Xghajra Tornados lost 1-3 to Kirkop United in a clash between the other two teams fighting for promotion.
At the Luxol Stadium, a goal by Chris Vella on the 19th minute and an Eddie Wileman hat-trick on the 41th, 47th and 70th gave Sta. Venera Lightnings a fine 4-0 win over Mellieha.
On the other hand, at the Sirens Stadium, Kirkop United came from behind to beat Xghajra Tornados 3-1. A win which puts Kirkop in third place, one point ahead of Xghajra. Royter Degiorgio converted a penalty to put Xghajra ahead on the 13th minute but Melchior Grech equalised six minutes in the second half and Luca Mizzi put Kirkop ahead a minute later. Karl Caruana sealed the issue ten minutes from time.
Mark Saliba notched a hat-trick as Mdina Knights defeated Marsaskala in another match at the Luxol Stadium. Cachel Vella opened the score on the 15th minute and Mark Saliba doubled the score four minutes later. Sam Bartolo made it 3-0 on the 40th and a minute later, Saliba added a fourth. On the hour, Mark Saliba increased the lead further with Stefi Cale adding another one minute from time.
Goals by Dean Agius on the 49th and Ian Calleja on the 88th gave Ghaxaq a 2-0 win over Msida St. Joseph at the Sirens Stadium.
Sta. Venera lead the way with 50 points, followed by Mellieha on 47, Kirkop 42, Xghajra 41, Msida 35, Mdina 31, Ghaxaq 28, Zurrieq and Dingli 24, Mtarfa 14, Ta’ Xbiex and Marsaskala 8.
