BOV Division 2: Santa Lucia move second as Gudja, Swieqi share spoils in top-of-the-table clash

Santa Lucia move second in the BOV Second Division as Gudja United and Swieqi United shared the spoils in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

The clash between Swieqi United and Gudja United ended in a goalless draw which therefore saw Gudja stay on top with 46 points, two points ahead of Swieqi who are now third as Santa Lucia move second on 45 points.

In fact, Santa Lucia defeated Kalkara 6-2 at the Sirens Stadium. John Nwoba put Santa Lucia ahead and Steve Meilak scored twice before Paolo Dandolo increased the lead to 4-0 but Timmy Thomas scored twice to reduce the gap for Kalkara. John Nwoba scored twice in the second half to increase the lead once again for Santa Lucia.

Siggiewi found no difficulty in beating Gharghur 7-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Gilmore Azzopardi and Jacob Magri gave Siggiewi a two-goal lead in the first half with Edafe Uzeh, a Ryan Caruana penalty, Ryan Darmanin, Ayrton Micallef and Jason Camilleri increasing the lead after the break.

A brace by Bobby Ray Vaughan gave St. George’s three precious points in a 2-0 win over Marsaxlokk at the Luxol Stadium.

Gudja lead the way with 46 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 45, Swieqi 44, Fgura and Siggiewi 40, Kalkara and Marsaxlokk 36, Mgarr 35, Birzebbuga 33, Luqa 22, Attard 16, St. George’s 15 and Gharghur 4.
