Munxar Falcons BOV Gozo Football League Second Division champions

After winning the Second Division Knock-Out, Munxar Falcons completed the double by winning the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division championship to secure promotion to the First Division. Sannat Lions, on the other hand, will be facing SK Victoria Wanderers in the Play-Off.

Munxar went into the final game of the season with a one point lead over neighbours and rivals Sannat Lions and went in firing on all cylinders and opening a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the game thanks Michael Matthias Uzor on the 9th, Jordi Parnis on the 12th and Uzor once again on the 19th and dominating the first half.

Sannat came into the second half a changed team and reduced the deficit on the 49th minutes thanks to Mohammed Senussi Telessi and becoming more aggressive as the second half progressed. Sannat earned a penalty just after the half hour which was converted by Mohammed Senussi Telessi to make the score 3-2 and laid siege on the Munxar goal. Both teams were reduced to 10 men with a send-off for each side but Munxar held tight to win the title and the automatic promotion to the BOV GFA First Division next season.

Horace Laudi, Executive Gozo Region at Bank of Valletta and Dr Samuel Azzopardi, President of the Gozo Football Association presented the trophy to the newly crowned champions.

Meanwhile in another match on Wednesday, St. Lawrence Spurs and Zebbug Rovers shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw. Radovan Duric scored on the 3rd and the 11th to put St. Lawrence two goals ahead but Zebbug turned the score in their favour with goals by Francesco Cini on the 35th, Chris Borg on the 40th and Cini once again nine minutes in the second half. Kenny Hili however restored equilibrium thirteen minutes from time.
