Jorginho, Tommy Veronese join Gzira United

After securing the services of Rodolfo Soares, Gzira United continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the UEFA Europa League preliminary round commitments with the signing of Thomas Veronese and Jorge Pereira da Silva.

Thirty-two year old striker Jorginho joins the Maroons from Hibernians. After playing in Brazil, Japan and Lebanon, Jorginho moved to Malta in summer 2011, joining Qormi FC and following a short spell with Kecskemeti in Hungary in the early part of season 2012/13, he returned with the club. In summer 2014, he moved to Hibernians where he had been playing since then, apart from a five-month spell on loan with Khaleej in Saudi Arabia in the early part of last season.

Thirty-one year old Italian left-back Thomas Veronese had moved to Malta last summer to join Mosta FC, helping them to secure their Premier League status. In Italy, he started his career with Venezia and then played fior Belluno, Trento, Sudtirol, Bassano, Montichiari, ASC St. Georgen, Mezzocorona, Marano, Trento and Mestre.

Meanwhile Gzira have loaned Haruna Garba to Al Hilal Khartoum of Sudan until the end of the season. The Nigerian striker had joined the Maroons in the January transfer window.
