Balzan defeat FK Vardar Skopje in friendly match

As part of the team’s preparation ahead of their UEFA Europa League first qualifying round commitments against Keşla FK of Azerbaijan, Balzan defeated FK Vardar Skopje of Macedonia 4-2 in a friendly match at the FK Zrece Stadium in Zrece, Slovenia.

FK Vardar finished as runners-up in the Macedonian First League and will be playing in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round like Balzan.

Marko Micovic’s side took a three-goal lead during the first half thanks to three goals in the last eight minutes through Milos Lepovic on the 37th, Andrija Majdevac on the 39th and Alfred Effiong on the 45th. Vardar reduced the gap thanks to Tigran Barseghyan on the 63rd but Majdevac made it 4-1 for Balzan three minutes later. Maksim Maksimov converted a penalty on the 73rd minute for Vardar’s second goal.

Last week, Balzan lost 1-2 to HNK Rijeka of Croatia in another friendly match.
