Kharkiv prove too strong for Birkirkara girls

WFC Kharkiv of Ukraine proved too strong for Birkirkara as they defeated them 8-0 in a match from Group 6 of the Qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the FC Metalist Training Ground in Vysokiy on Tuesday.

The hosts scored two within the first nine minutes, adding another three goals by the end of the first half. In fact, Yuliia Shevchuk opened the scoring on the 6th minute and three minutes later, Daryna Apanaschenko doubled the score. Nadiia Kunina made it 3-0 on the 26 and Ganna Voronina scored twice on the 36th and 43rd. Just past the hour, Kunina scored the sixth goal with Ganna Mozolska increasing the lead on the 78th and Anna Petryk scoring the eighth goal five minutes from time.

The Stripes play the second game on Friday against Olimpia Cluj of Romania.
