Malta FA, Frosinone Calcio sign collaboration agreement

The Malta Football Association and Frosinone Calcio have signed a three-year agreement to strengthen their collaboration in the field of youth development.

Thanks to this partnership, every year two young Maltese players may, with the consent of their parents and club as well as FIFA’s approval, join the youth squad of Frosinone while two coaches from the Malta FA Technical Centre will be gaining work experience within the youth sector of the Italian club.

“We are very pleased to have concluded this agreement with Frosinone Calcio,” Norman Darmanin Demajo, the Malta FA President, said.

“This link-up complements our policy to create new opportunities for our young players to train and play in a professional environment, in agreement with their local clubs, as we believe that this will significantly aid their footballing development.

“Coaching education is also a priority for the Malta FA and this agreement will give our youth coaches the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and experience by spending time working at a professional club overseas.

“I would like to thank Frosinone Calcio for their assistance and co-operation, especially Ernesto Salvini, who is responsible for the club’s technical sector, and Mauro Di Lello.”

For his part, Ernesto Salvini reiterated his satisfaction at this collaboration agreement, adding that he is hopeful that this partnership will yield important results in the future.

Jake Engerer, a member of the Malta Under-17 squad, has already started training with the youth squad of Frosinone Calcio, while Nikolai Farrugia Cross, of Birkirkara, has been earmarked to join the Serie A club’s youth sector shortly.

Both Engerer and Farrugia Cross visited the training complex of Frosinone Calcio over the past few weeks as part of the familiarisation process.

The parents of the two young players, as well as Birkirkara FC in Farrugia Cross’ case, have played a very important role in the discussions with Frosinone Calcio.
