Valletta FC Futsal make it three wins in a row to secure Main Round spot

Valletta FC Futsal secured a place in the Main Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League as they registered a third win in as many matches in Group E of the Preliminary Round as they defeated hosts Veles 8-5 at the Jane Sandanski Arena in Skopje.

The Citizens now move on to Group 8 of the Main Round together with Araz Naxçivan of Azerbaijan, Lučenec of Slovakia and Vytis of Lithuania who won Group F of the Preliminary round. Lučenec will host the mini-tournament which will be played in the first week of October.

Igor Stojkovski put Veles ahead on the 9th minute but a brace by Camilo Gomez on the 16th and 17th turned the score in favour of Valletta. Yerai and Murtaz Kakabadze scored twice in a minute within the second minute of the second half to extend the lead but Zoran Leveski reduced the gap for the hosts. The Citizens made it 5-2 through Denis Di Maio on the 27th but Veles were quick to score through Darko Rangotov and on the 36th minute, Zoran Leveski was on target once again for the Macedonian side.

As the hosts went all out in search of goals in order to turn the score in their favour, Camilo Gomez put Valletta 6-4 ahead but Aleksandar Gligirov scored a fifth goal for Veles. However Valletta hit back with a goal by goalkeeper Tornike Bukia and another by Yerai to seal an 8-5 victory.
