Women’s Under-19 side, Romania share spoils in 3-3 draw

The Malta women Under-19 national team featured in a 3-3 draw with Romania in a friendly match at the MFA Training Grounds on Tuesday.

This was the first in a series of three friendlies which are intended to boost the Malta U-19 girls’ preparations for next month’s UEFA U-19 Women’s European Championship qualifiers, being held in Croatia. The Maltese girls will face England, Slovakia and Croatia.

Romania took the lead on the 12th minute thanks to Carmen Marcu. Malta levelled terms through Maria Farrugia on the half-hour and Demi Magrin made it 2-1 on the 38th but five minutes later, Carmen Marcu restored equilbrium.

An own goal put Romania ahead on the 65th but Maria Farrugia concluded a solo effort by beating the Romanian goalkeeper on the 77th minute to make it 3-3.

The second friendly between Malta and Romania is on Thursday art 17.00 and the third and final game on Saturday at 11.30.
