Birzebbuga St. Peter’s came from behind to beat Sta. Venera Lightnings 5-1 at the Luxol Stadium in one of the four matches from the BOV Second Division on Sunday.
Edward Falzon gave the Lightnings an early lead but Andrea Sant equalised just before half-time. Sant scored again on the 58th and 67th, Gary Caruana made it 4-1 on the 80th and Dylan Pirotta added another three minutes from time.
Luqa St. Andrew’s earned their first points thanks to a 2-0 win over Mgarr United in another match at the Luxol Stadium. Jihad Azzagari gave Luqa the lead five minutes in the second half while Andy Portelli doubled the score on the 62nd minute.
Marsaxlokk registered their first win as they defeated Mellieha 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Timmy Thomas on the 65th and Ronnie Celeste ten minutes later.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Melita also registered their first victory as they beat Zabbar St. Patrick 2-0 courtesy of Axl Xuereb on the 10th minute and Julian Abela on the 40th.
