Valletta FC Futsal dominate to win Super Cup

Valletta FC Futsal won the Super Cup as they cruised 13-1 against the University of Malta Students Futsal Team. Following their successful qualification to the UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round, the team led by coach Xavier Saliba showed confidence and mastered the whole match.

The Citizens immediately took control of the game and rotated the ball smoothly. The Universitarians lacked ideas and seemed unable to react. Before the end of the first half, Valletta led 9-0 through Camilo Andres Vanegas Gomez’s brace, Jovica Milijic’s hat-trick and more goals from Gia Nikvashvili, Dylan Musu and Shawn Vella. University’s goalkeeper Jonathan Martinelli was also unlucky that scored an own goal.

After the break the Universitarians recovered pyschologically and were more alert on the court. On the 30th minute an own goal by Daniele Degennaro resulted in Valletta’s tenth goal. A minute later the same Degennaro scored a great goal from an assist by Daniel Borg. On the 35th minute Dylan Musu scored his second personal goal and Valletta were now leading 11-1. In the last minute Valletta gave an end to this game as Denis Di Maio and Daniel Saliba made the final score 13-1.

After the final whistle the Valletta supporters joined the squad to celebrate as Valletta’s captain lifted the Super Cup. Valletta will cherish this title and keep their momentum for their participation in the UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round in the first week of October in Slovakia.
