Victoria Hotspurs, Munxar Falcons register second win

Victoria Hotspurs and Munxar Falcons registered their second win in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division.

The Hotspurs registered a comfortable 6-1 win over Kercem Ajax at the Gozo Stadium on Thursday. Ferdinando Apap put them ahead on the 4th minute. Two minutes before the end of the first half, Elton da Silva doubled the score and the same player added another in added time. Eleven minutes in the second half, Henrique Maciel made it 4-0. Emiliano Lattes scored a fifth goal on the 71st and although Aleksandar Komljenovic pulled one back five minutes later, Elton da Silva made it 6-1 four minutes from time.

On Friday, Munxar Falcons came from behind to defeat SK Victoria Wanderers 4-1. Predrag Djordjevic put the Wanderers ahead on the 31st minute but an own goal by David Udo Monday restored equilibrium two minutes in the second half. Borja Polo Longarela made it 2-1 on the 49th after SKVW had a player sent off. Leiner Garcia Panesso converted a penalty on the 74th and after a second SKVW player was sent off, John Jairo Sandoval Guarin made it 4-1 on the 91st.

Nadur Youngsters claimed their first three points in a 3-1 win over Gharb Rangers. A Hugo Santa Rosa Cruz penalty put Gharb ahead on the 6th minute but Yuri de Jesus Messias equalised three minutes later. Tiago Souza da SIlveira made it 2-1 on the 29th and Yuri de Jesus Messias sealed the issue with a penalty on the 34th.

In another match on Friday, Ghajnsielem defeated Xewkija Tigers 4-2. Luis Andre De Melo Lima put the Blacks ahead on the half hour but Claudio Antunes Pavlidis equalised seven minutes later. Naby Damba restored the lead two minutes from the end of the first half and increased the lead further on the hour. Charles Hili increased the lead on the 77th with Darko Krstic reducing the gap one minute from time.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Oratory Youths registered a second win as they beat Zebbug Rovers 4-1 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Sunday. Thiago Melo dos Santos was the hero with four goals on the 32nd, 35th, 45th and 73rd with Marcos Peres Vega pulling one back nine minutes from time.

In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs beat Qala Saints 2-1. Chris Borg opening the scoring on the 12th minute and doubled the score on the 57th. Botshelo Gibson Mfuluane reduced the gap on the hour.

Football in Gozo will now take a break due to the Gozo XI representing Malta in the UEFA Regions Cup.
