Maroons hope to extend unbeaten streak

Gzira United will be all out to claim the three points on Sunday in their bid to regain the top spot as they take on Birkirkara at the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:00, in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme.

The Maroons collected ten points from the four games played so far, dropping their only points in a draw with Hamrun. In their last outing, they defeated Hibernians 3-2. The Stripes, on the other hand, won three matches and lost one and are coming from a 2-0 win over Floriana last week. A win for Birkirkara would put them on level points with current leaders Balzan.

Meanwhile in the first match, kick-off at 15:00, Sliema Wanderers take on Tarxien Rainbows.

Like Birkirkara, the Wanderers lie on the nine-point mark with three wins and a defeat. In fact, they bounced back from the defeat to Gzira with a 2-0 win over St. Andrews last week.

Tarxien, on the other hand, had mixed fortunes so far, with impressive wins over St. Andrews and Hamrun Spartans and defeats to Gzira United and Mosta.

Sliema could not field their best formation as Ryan Fenech is still suspended.
