Comfortable win for Floriana over Senglea

Floriana registered their third win as they defeated bottom-placed Senglea Athletic 4-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

For Senglea, this was the fifth defeat in six matches, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the table.

The Greens welcomed back Alex Cini and Arthur Henrique in the starting line-up as they replaced Ivica Guberac and Patrick Wleh.

Senglea, on the other hand, had one change as Karl Cutajar replaced Braian Volpini.

Floriana took the lead on the 2nd minute thanks to Juninho Cabral who received the ball from an erratic clearance and beat goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.

Senglea equalised on the 32nd minute when off a cross by Brandon Muscat from the right, Augusto Rene Caseres headed home past goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.

However the Greens regained the lead seven minutes later through Ignacio Varela who headed the ball past the Senglea custodian following a cross from the left by Clayton Failla.

Nine minutes in the second half, Floriana made it 3-1 when off a Steve Pisani cross from the right, Emerson Marcelina headed home past Farrugia.

The Greens added another on the 66th minute with a Maurizio Vella header off a cross by Juninho Cabral.
