BOV Division 2: Birzebbuga, Marsaxlokk share spoils in draw

Marsaxlokk and leaders Birzebbuga St. Peter’s shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the top-of-the-table clash from the BOV Second Division at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.

Keith Muscat put Birzebbuga ahead on the 35th but Alan Tabone levelled matters six minutes in the second half.

Fgura United join Marsaxlokk in second place thanks to a dramatic 1-0 win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Centenary Stadium, courtesy of a 93rd minute goal by Andrew Scicluna.

At the Sirens Stadium, Mgarr United bounced back from the heavy defeat to Rabat Ajax in their last outing with a 4-0 win over Mellieha. Lyden Micallef put Mgarr ahead just before half-time and one minute in the second half, Kenneth Aquilina doubled the score. Lazar Doric made it 3-0 on the 62nd and Nicholas Abela added another five minutes from time.

Siggiewi registered their first win as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to Samuel Vella on the 73rd and Marko Nicolic seven minutes from time.

Sta. Venera lightnings made it two wins in a row thanks to a 3-1 win over St. George’s at the Luxol Stadium. Luca Bugeja put the Lightnings ahead on the 18th, Mohammed Telessi doubled the score on the 52nd and Michael Grima scored a third on the 63rd. Anthony Chimezie Ewurum pulled one back two minutes from time.

Kalkara and Melita shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Centenary Stadium. Lincoln Micallef gave Kalkara the lead on the 3rd minute but Liam Grech equalised on the 11th and Axl Xuereb put Melita ahead on the 19th. Matthew Schembri restored equilibrium on the 26th and Kalkara regained the lead on the 56th thanks to Julian Spiteri. However one minute in added time, Luke Mifsud notched the equaliser for Melita.

Birzebbuga lead the way with 14 points, followed by Marsaxlokk and Fgura on 13, St. George’s and Mgarr 10, Rabat 9, Sta. Venera 6, Mellieha, Melita and Kalkara 5, Zabbar and Siggiewi 4 and Luqa 3.
