BOV Division 2: Fgura move top as they beat Birzebbuga in top-of-the-table clash

Fgura United are the new leaders in the BOV Second Division as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Monday. For the Saints, this was the first defeat after five wins and a draw.

Gilbert Martin put Fgura ahead on the 40th minute and Giovanni Galea doubled the score on the 76th.

In the other match, Marsaxlokk failed to join Fgura on top after suffering a 0-3 defeat to Mgarr United.  Mgarr therefore join Marsaxlokk on the 13-point mark.

Jamie Lee Micallef put Mgarr ahead on the 34th and six minutes later, Kenneth Aquilina doubled the score. Lazar Doric made it 3-0 on the 67th. Ronnie Celeste pulled one back six minutes from time. 

Fgura lead the way with 16 points, followed by Birzebbuga on 14 points, Mgarr and Marsaxlokk 13, Rabat 12, St. George’s 10, Melita 8, Sta. Venera 7, Kalkara and Mellieha 5, Zabbar, Siggiewi and Luqa 4.
