BOV Women’s League: Birkirkara make it four wins in a row

Champions Birkirkara registered their fourth win in the BOV Women’s League as they defeated Raiders (Luxol) 4-0 at the Mgarr Ground on Tuesday.

The Stripes took the lead thanks to Ylenia Carabott on the 22nd minute and six minutes later, Kailey Willis doubled the score. Stephania Farrugia converted a penalty on the 33rd and eight minutes in the second half, Raina Giusti added another.

Mgarr United bounced back from the defeat to Hibernians with a 5-1 win over Swieqi United at the Zebbug Ground on Wednesday. Hayley Bugeja was the hero for Mgarr with four goals on the 29th, 47th, 50th and 80th. Abigail Camilleri scored Mgarr’s other goal on the 78th. Yolande Attard scored a consolation goal for Swieqi seven minutes in the second half. 

Hibernians registered their second win, defeating Fgura United 5-0 at the Mgarr Ground in another match on Wednesday. Vitoria Macedo put the Paolites ahead on the 28th minute and six minutes in the second half, Ruth Steer Chetham doubled the score. Kayleigh Chetcuti increased the lead on the 65th with Chantelle Grech and Ruth Steer Chetham adding another two goals on the 80th and the 90th respectively. 

Kirkop United also registered their second win as they beat Mosta 6-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium courtesy of Paula Cano Amortegui on the 13th, a brace by Demi Magrin on the 28th and 84th and another by Liis Pello on the 32nd and 38th and a goal by Jasmine Grech on the 69th.

Meanwhile the Malta Football Association announced that due to the Malta women’s Under-16 national team participation in the UEFA Women’s Under-16 tournament between the 6th and the 16th December, all fixtures from the BOV Women’s League and the Women’s Under-19 League between the 8th and 16th December have been postponed to a later date.
