Hibernians target sixth consecutive win to move top

Hibernians will be all out to claim the three points on Sunday as they take on Birkirkara in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium (kick-off at 16:00).

Following the goalless draw between Gzira United and Valletta, the Paolites lie just three points behind the leaders and therefore a win over Birkirkara would put them on level points with the Maroons. Hibs defeated St. Andrews, Tarxien, Hamrun, Sliema and Mosta in their last five games.

Birkirkara were quite inconsistent so far, winning five games and losing four. They defeated Sliema 2-0 last week and a win over Hibernians would put them once again on level points with Balzan and Hamrun, just three points behind the Paolites.

The Stripes could not count on the suspended Danilo Chapoval.

Meanwhile in the first match, kick-off at 14:00, Floriana take on Mosta.

The season so far has been highly disappointing for the Greens who are currently fourth from bottom on nine points. They are coming from three consecutive defeats to Balzan, Pietà and Valletta. On the other hand, Mosta lie two points behind Floriana and are coming from four successive defeats to Pietà, Sliema, Valletta and Hibernians.

A win is therefore must for both sides as they aim to climb out of the danger zone.
