Eight Premier League players suspended

Eight Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Michael Johnson (Balzan), Kurt Zammit (Birkirkara), Bjorn Kristensen (Hibs), Alessio De Cerchio (Mosta), Antonio Orlando Macedo Neto (Pietà), Ferdinando Salvati (Senglea), Anderson De Barros (Tarxien) and Joseph Zerafa (Valletta) are therefore ruled out of next week’s matches.

Johnson is ruled out of the clash with Hamrun Spartans, Zammit and De Cerchio will skip Mosta vs Birkirkara, Kristensen the game against Qormi, Tony and De Barros the clash between Pietà and Tarxien, Salvati the game against Sliema and Zerafa the clash with St. Andrews.

In Division 1, McAllister Clinch (Lija), Wayne Borg (Mqabba), Maxim Focsa and Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza (Pembroke), Godwin Blessing Henshaw (San Gwann) and Kevin Camilleri (Santa Lucia) were suspended for one match while Pembroke coach Jeffrey Mifsud was banned for two matches

In Division 2, Mellieha coach Brian Bartolo was suspended for two matches. Isaac Fenech (Mellieha), Mattia Mentosa (St. George’s), Agatino Sicali (Sta. Venera) and Carl Magro (Zabbar) were handed a one-match ban.

Ryan Farrugia (Zurrieq) was handed a three-match ban in Division 3 while Bledi Alla (Attard), Daniele Marsala and James Mifsud (Gharghur) were suspended for one match.
