Birkirkara, Hibernians register comfortable wins

Birkirkara and Hibernians both registered comfortable in the BOV Women’s League as the Stripes eased past Fgura United with 13 goals while Hibs netted five against Mosta.

At the Zebbug Ground on Wednesday, Birkirkara scored seven in the first half and six in the second as they defeated Fgura United 13-0. Alishia Sultana scored on the 13th and 17th and an own goal on the 20th put them three goals ahead. Ylenia Carabott and Sarah Urpani increased the lead with two goals in a minute between the 27th and 28th. Mariah Sciberras made it 6-0 on the 35th and Alishia Sultana added another three minutes from the end of the first half. Birkirkara kept pushing fore more, and a Kailey Willis hat-trick on the 66th, 86th and 90th, a brace by Stephania Farrugia on the 69th and 88th and a goal by Sarah Urpani on the 77th extended the lead further.

On Thursday, Hibernians defeated Mosta 5-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium, courtesy of Ruth Steer Chetham on the 19th, a Jade Flask brace on the 59th and 78th and goals by Charlene Zammit on the 80th and Francesca Chircop in added time.

An own goal on the 55th minute and a Haley Bugeja strike on the 73rd minute handed Mgarr United a 2-0 win over Raiders (Luxol) at the Charles Abela Stadium on Wednesday.

On the other hand, Swieqi United defeated Kirkop United 1-0 in another match on Thursday at the Mgarr Ground. Kirsty Paris scored the all-important goal on the 33rd minute.
